Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bode?
Bode is a New York label founded in 2016 by Emily Adams Bode Aujla. Its collections are built around storytelling, craft and the preservation of historical textiles, techniques and personal histories. Quilting, crochet, embroidery, appliqué and textile reproduction recur throughout the line, but the result is clothing intended to be worn rather than treated as costume.
Why do you carry Bode?
Bode understands that history can be used as a method rather than a surface treatment. Fabric, technique and provenance are considered alongside silhouette. The polos are a particularly clear expression of that approach. They are easy to place within a wardrobe, but the knit, embroidery, buttons and historical references keep them from feeling ordinary.
What Bode pieces are currently available?
The collection currently focuses on Bode cycling polos and knit polos from recent seasons. Cotton, merino wool and blended-fabric iterations appear depending on availability. Other Bode shirts, knitwear, jackets and trousers may enter the collection when the piece is right.
What is a Bode cycling polo?
Bode cycling polos reinterpret vintage cycling jerseys and sweaters through striped knits, fine merino wool, embroidered details and period-informed proportions. Some are long-sleeved merino sweaters inspired by mid-century cycling garments. Others, such as the Hester Street Polo, use cotton jacquard and a shorter, boxier silhouette. Every listing identifies the specific model and fabrication.
Are all Bode garments made from antique textiles?
No. Bode produces some one-of-a-kind garments from original antique or vintage textiles. Other pieces reproduce an archival fabric, technique or silhouette using newly made materials. The listing identifies the composition and construction of the individual garment. We do not describe a textile as antique unless that can be supported.
How do Bode polos fit?
Many Bode polos have a relaxed or boxy silhouette, but the fit varies between cycling sweaters, cotton polos and more structured knits. Every listing includes the chest and length measured flat. Sleeve and shoulder measurements are added when the construction makes them useful.
How does Bode sizing work?
Bode uses standard sizes such as S, M and L, along with combined sizes including XS/S, S/M, M/L and L/XL. Combined sizing allows more ease within the silhouette, but it should not be treated as a universal conversion. Compare the flat measurements with a polo or knit you already wear.
Is this authentic Bode?
Every piece is evaluated through the main label, care label, fabrication, construction and finishing details. When possible, those elements are compared with original product and season information. We do not rely on one label alone, and we do not knowingly sell reproductions.
Why is the Bode clothing below retail?
These are current and recent-season pieces entering the secondary market rather than the traditional retail cycle. Pieces in this collection are priced below their verified original retail price. The final price reflects the season, fabrication, condition and availability. A sought-after Bode piece does not automatically lose significance because its original season has passed.
What condition should I expect?
Every listing identifies the garment as New with Tags, New without Tags, Excellent or another clearly defined condition. Knits are inspected for pulls, snags, stretching and repairs. Natural variation, handwork and intentional irregularities are distinguished from damage and explained in the listing.
Can I return a Bode piece?
Eligible new designer pieces may be returned within seven days. Any original tags must remain attached, and the garment must be returned unworn and in the same condition in which it arrived. Review the measurements, fabrication and condition notes before purchasing, particularly when comparing different Bode polo silhouettes.
